Investment Director

We are looking for an Investment Director who will be required to provide investment management services and/or investment advice to private clients, working collegiately alongside the Bowmore investment team.  The role focuses exclusively on attracting private clients directly or via third party intermediaries and will include managing new and existing relationships, whilst also winning new accounts.

About the Role

  • Attract, develop, and retain a portfolio of relationships to maximize asset and revenue growth by meeting clients’ needs, including managing client assets on a discretionary basis as well as introducing other products and services according to the overall strategy of the firm
  • Contribute to and demonstrate a sound working knowledge of private client investment strategies
  • Actively seek new business, whilst giving competitive pitches, being active in local social/business circles, generating and following up all leads, explaining the firms’ services and strengths to potential new clients and following up all opportunities to win new clients
  • To ensure that all client relationships are properly documented, and all required information is obtained from the client in a timely manner. This will include maintaining and sufficiently documenting “know your client” information where appropriate
  • To provide investment advice appropriate to the client’s needs, and in compliance with all relevant rules, regulations and in-house policies and procedures
  • To have a clear understanding of the client’s investment objectives, risk profile, investment experience and financial resource and be clear about the suitability of transactions for your clients
  • To attend and participate in relevant company meetings as required relating to the Bowmore investment process
  • To provide clients and/or their professional advisors with such information and reports about their investment transactions, income payments and investment performance as requested
  • Contribute to thought leadership, helping promote the Bowmore brand name
  • To assist in the training and development of trainee investment managers, providing support and guidance where relevant
  • To liaise as required with our New Business Development function to identify and develop new business opportunities

About You

Qualifications required:

The right candidate will need to be fully qualified to Level 7 or the CFA equivalent.

Skills & Knowledge required:

  • Proven experience in investments and managing their own client relationships
  • Ability to connect with a wide array of audiences through dynamic interpersonal skills
  • Experience of ethical and responsible investment mandates
  • Solid working knowledge of ongoing developments within responsible investment
  • A thorough understanding of private clients’ investment proposition
  • High-activity orientation and persistent through setbacks
  • A good understanding of investment strategy and asset allocation
  • Excellent understanding of the regulatory requirements and restrictions around investments
  • In-depth knowledge in all aspects of portfolio construction including risk and attribution management
  • In-depth broad investment market knowledge
  • Calculated risk-taker; willing to ‘win some, lose some’
